Rachel from Eclipse Musicians describes herself as ”a complete artist at heart.” She believes her superhero power is her passion about music, design and the Arts. My superhero power is that I am truly in my happy place in my business..
What is your business elevator pitch?
I’m Director of Eclipse Musicians, a collective of entertainers that collaborate together to create the most wonderful live music experiences for events.
What is your Why for being in business?
With a complete passion, I want to create a company that will be able to encourage the professional growth of our local musicians.
I studied music through university (WAAPA) and there I discovered just how much world-class talent we have in our city. But their talents and performance skillset are so grossly under-utilised that the average Perth local would have no idea what we have. Many of these artists end up primarily teaching, and performing largely at bars, cafés.
My effort with Eclipse Musicians is to create a place where that musical ability is nurtured professionally, and in so doing, we create an incredible resource for event and wedding planners to use that talent to truly enhance their event & design creations.
Share a unique business challenge you have experienced and how you overcame this?
In the earlier days, it was a real challenge to create a structured company environment for musicians who, typically in this city, would get their gigs very casually from friends or via social media.
It was a challenge (and a learning curve) to ease initial musicians into how organised and structured we are with things. Eventually, those that didn’t align with us here left and, in place, we have attracted those that are highly attentive and organised, as well as super talented artists. Just the best team!
What’s got you “edge of your seat” excited in your biz right now?
Just last October, we launched our nine-piece Eclipse Christmas Show Band. I am still so excited about it. Completely soulful, energetic renditions of Christmas songs, performed with big harmonies, shout choruses, and an overall feel that makes you want to dance!!
What is your favourite biz resource at the moment?
Jenna Kutcher’s “Goal Digger” podcast is a complete staple listen for me.
