What is your business elevator pitch?
Your Colours is bringing styling into the 21st century by combining modern styling with tried and trusted traditional methods. We teach clients how to develop their own style and provide tools so they can confidently shop to create a wearable, mix and match wardrobe.
What is your Why for being in business?
Firstly, to help others gain the confidence to strive for their goals by delivering a personal styling experience in our salon where we teach ladies and men to become their own best personal stylist. Secondly, to create an Australian-made, organic make-up line as a complimentary product to our services and to make ladies feel beautiful wearing natural.
Share a unique business challenge you have experienced and how you overcame this?
Recruiting a team for my salon when there aren’t many ‘already’ trained colours consultants around. I overcame this by reviewing all the training materials the salon had used from the outset (going back to early ’80’s). I studied and moved through all of these materials and put back together a standard, in-house, colours consultant training course which included theory and a lot of practical training demonstrations/practicals. I have now trained 4 people on this course who are effectively delivering colours consultations with very good results.
What’s got you “edge of your seat” excited in your biz right now?
The fact that I have a fully functioning team in my salon who are capable of running it without me overseeing all aspects of consult delivery PLUS the evolution and launching of my new, Aus-made, organic make-up range, Your Colours Cosmetics, and where I plan to take this PLUS the launching of my own clothing label, Faire Ravine Designs, later this year.
What is your favourite biz resource at the moment?
I really love Mailchimp because this is where I create my newsletters and my clients get to hear from me. As I get to write much more in the newsletters than FB and Instagram posts, I feel like it is the most important form of communication for me.
